Were formed in Liverpool during the latter part of 1963 they were originally called the Bumblies a name they took from a Childrens television show presented by Micheal Bentine.

Others..
They earned themselves a good reputation around the clubs and dance halls of Merseyside and became a part of Brian Epsteins NEMs Stable. By 1965 the group had become one of the most popular unsigned acts in the Country.
Late 65 They were finally signed By Decca and placed under the wing of Joe Meek. Meeks great days were behind him but he was confident that the Shames could make the top.
Their First record under Meek was a Drifters song, "Please Stay" which surprisingly only reached 26 in the Charts. And that was the nearest The Shames made to top spot nothing ever again charted which was a pity, The Country Missed out.
